Community Fundraising Drive to Add Swings + Play Features to Frog Park
For more than a decade Frog Park has been a second home for area families and children — for play dates, birthday parties, field trips and get-out-the-energy excursions. It’s been part of your family’s life. Together, we can return the favor.
Help extend the life – and fun – of Frog Park
With your help, Frog Park will be enhanced with new toddler swings, regular swings, a state-of-the-art merry-go-round climber, pole spinners and a see-saw. These proposed features would provide young toddlers with safe swings, and our elementary schoolchildren won’t “age out” of the park, — allowing for more family fun!
To make the enhanced FROG Park a reality, we embarked on an ambitious effort to raise $50,000 from the community in 2014.
THANK YOU!! We reached our $50, 000 goal by receiving generous individual, local business donations, and an invaluable matching grant. After several months of design delays and increased design costs, we reduced the play equipment footprint and are back on track to finalize the design. We are making minor revisions to the design, which include recent changes such as adding greenery, boulders, and a bench, so that we may address community interests and move on to permitting and implementation!
Please consider a donation to our General Fund, and spread the word to your neighbors. Every dollar counts!
Here is the revised drawing (October 2015) of the proposed enhancements.
Continuing the Community-Owned Tradition
Built by more than 1,300 volunteers in 2001 and sustained over the years by volunteer maintenance and generous donations, Frog Park is a testament to the power of a community-driven vision. What was once a vacant lot overgrown with weeds is now one of Oakland’s most popular parks.
It’s a local treasure that started with the simple notion that our neighborhood needed a safe place for kids to play. Now it’s ours to maintain and enhance. To do so, we need raise funds for these improvements to Frog Park. As we’ve experienced, some pretty amazing results can be achieved together.
Let’s finish what we started.
